The ProCo The Rat is a legendary distortion pedal that has been a staple on pedalboards since the 1970s. The reissue, sought to replicate the original's iconic tone. This model features the OP07DP chip, a modern operational amplifier that replaced the original LM308 in later productions. Despite some enthusiasts' preference for the LM308, the OP07DP is known for its clean and responsive performance, delivering the Rat's signature aggressive distortion and rich harmonic content. The pedal is housed in a robust steel enclosure with a slanted face for ease of use, and it includes the classic three-knob layout: Distortion, Filter, and Volume. Additionally, it is equipped with ZL (Zhongli) potentiometers, which are commonly used in modern Rat pedals for their durability and consistent performance. This reissue captures the essence of the original Rat, offering musicians a reliable and authentic distortion experience.

  • This is a used unit. 

  • This unit is in good condition for its age. It shows some general marks, nicks and scratches. There is a small dent on the top. Please see all photos.

  • This unit is 100% functional. All controls work as they should. 

  • This unit can power off a 9V battery or 9V negative centre power supply. Neither are included in the sale. 

  • This sale is for the Rat only. Nothing else is included in this sale unless mentioned above.

It is serving the purpose it is bought for. However the assembly was harder than it should have been. Joining the parts A and B (two iron pipes) was very hard. We can't use any tools to do that and it has to be done manually and every joint was very tight and very hard to to do. I had to struggle to make 24 joints for the length I need. At one point I was going to return it, but I needed it very badly so continued with the assembly.
