Cómo las aguas moldean el mundo, influyen en nuestro pensamiento y forjan nuestro futuro.

«Una obra maestra». --The Economist

«Transforma nuestra manera de percibir el mundo natural». --The Observer

«Hermoso, salvaje y provocador hasta el extremo». --New Scientist

From the bestselling author of Underland and "the great nature writer...of this generation" (Wall Street Journal), a revelatory book that transforms how we imagine rivers―and life itself.

A brilliant, perspective-shifting new book, which answers a resounding "yes" to the question of its title, from the celebrated writer, observer, and naturalist Robert Macfarlane.

At the heart of Is a River Alive? is a single, transformative idea: that rivers are not mere matter for human use, but living beings, who should be recognized as such in both imagination and law. Macfarlane takes the reader on a mind-expanding global journey into the history, futures, people and places of the ancient, urgent concept.

Around the world, rivers are dying from pollution, drought and damming. But a powerful movement is also underway to recognize the lives and the rights of rivers, and to re-animate our relationships with these vast, mysterious presences whose landscapes we share. The young "rights of nature" movement has lit up activists, artists, law-makers and politicians across six continents--and become the focus for revolutionary thinking about rivers in particular.

The book flows like water, from the mountains to the sea, over three major journeys. The first is to northern Ecuador, where a miraculous cloud-forest and its rivers are threatened with destruction by Canadian gold-mining. The second is to the wounded rivers, creeks and lagoons of southern India, where a desperate battle to save the lives of these waterbodies is underway. The third is to northeastern Quebec, where a spectacular wild river--the Mutehekau or Magpie--is being defended from death by damming in a river-rights campaign led by an extraordinary Innu poet and leader called Rita Mestokosho.

Is a River Alive? is at once a literary work of art, a rallying cry and a catalyst for change. It is a book that will open hearts, spark debates and challenge perspectives. A clarion call to re-centre rivers in our stories, law and politics, it invites us to radically re-imagine not only rivers but life itself. At the heart of this vital, beautiful book is the recognition that our fate flows with that of rivers--and always has.

Style: Mineral
Great little bag full of sunscreen for my grandson. Glad we had it to take it everywhere with us. A little pricey but he needs it so instead of taking bunches of bottles we had this.

Sunscreen is great, I would t recommend the chapstick
Style: Original
Sun Bum is hands down the best sunscreen I’ve ever used. It smells incredible, like a tropical vacation with that perfect coconut scent. It goes on smoothly, doesn’t leave you feeling sticky or greasy, and actually works! As long as I reapply every few hours, I don’t get burned, which is more than I can say for most other sunscreens I’ve tried. The face stick is good, goes on easily, but is a little greasy feeling. I do not like the chapstick, I can’t keep the taste of it out of my mouth and I feel like you have to put it on again and again.

Great Mineral Facial Sunscreen
Size: 1.7 Fl Oz (Pack of 1)
This is the best mineral facial sunscreen I’ve used. It comes out as a thin lotion that spreads easily. I have used two other brands and considered a brand that was expensive before trying this. I liked baby bum mineral 50 sunscreen lotion for the body and decided to give this a try. I like sun bum products. They tend to make effective products that are not too expensive. The zinc oxide mineral facial sunscreen I was using slightly irritated my skin and felt heavy like a mask after applying. It left a greasy residue on my face. This sun bum facial mineral sunscreen is non-irritating and feels very light like a chemical-based facial sunscreen. It leaves no residue on the skin. I prefer zinc oxide mineral sunscreen because it’s natural, safe and effective. Some zinc oxide mineral sunscreens put a white caste on the skin after application. The titanium dioxide and zinc oxide blended mineral sunscreens are worse due to the titanium dioxide. Titanium dioxide is a bright-white powdered substance, and I have not experienced any product with this ingredient that doesn’t appear white on the skin and cannot be blended. This sun bum zinc oxide mineral facial sunscreen has no white caste. Like another reviewer, I also hope that sun bum continues to make this facial mineral sunscreen indefinitely. It’s the best I’ve ever tried and at an excellent price point. If you like mineral sunscreens due to the health and environmental concerns with chemical-based sunscreens, try this before trying more expensive mineral facial sunscreens.

This is a great everyday face sunscreen. It doesn’t leave a white cast. It’s not greasy. It leaves a nice dewy finish. Strongly recommend.
