Domaine Xavier Monnot ligt in Meursault en behoort tot de modernere producenten in de Côte de Beaune. Monnot staat bekend om zijn precieze stijl, waarbij hij per perceel werkt en de diversiteit van de Bourgondische bodems centraal zet. Het domein beheert ongeveer tien hectare verspreid over prominente dorpen als Meursault, Volnay en Pommard, waardoor hun regionale Bourgogne-wijnen meer diepgang hebben dan gebruikelijk in deze categorie.

De jaargang 2022 uitgelegd

De jaargang 2022 is een uitzonderlijk goed jaar. Met wijnen die opvallend puur en geconcentreerd zijn met een rijpe stijl die toch haar frisheid behoudt. 2022 levert wijnen op die nu al heel toegankelijk zijn zonder aan structuur of elegantie in te boeten. Voor een Bourgogne Pinot Noir heeft dit geresulteerd in een bijzonder evenwichtige en vriendelijke stijl die zowel direct drinkplezier geeft als mooi kan ontwikkelen.

Food pairing

Pinot Noir uit de Côte de Beaune is verfijnd genoeg voor gerechten met subtiele smaken. Deze wijn past uitstekend bij geroosterde kip, kalkoen, gegrilde zalm, varkenshaas of romige paddenstoelenrisotto. Ook bij zachte roodschimmelkazen komt hij heel mooi tot zijn recht.

A lot of useless skipping around...

So, I really enjoy the underlying story, but I really wish the writing was cleaned up. There were so many little sections, a few paragraphs to a few pages that were bouncing all over the place. And while some sort of moved the plot along, the vast majority were just filler. It would have been significantly more fluid if events were portrayed through characters experiences, than just having narration about everything happening all over. In addition, I know this is a web novel, and they tend to be written chapter by chapter. This, painfully, results in less cohesion from start to middle to end. The story ends up feeling choppy, and the overall arc throughout the book suffers. In fact, over >700 pages and we really didn't make a ton of headway until ~60% of the way through the book. That's when things really started. The majority before was fluff and filler. Useful, but only once distilled and refined. I'm really hoping that for future books, Shirtaloon spends some time really thinking what is critical for the plot, and how to incorporate as much of that plot progression through the lenses of the characters in lieu of just narrating pages and pages of stuff. For example, instead of spending 100s of pages on mentioning all the places in the world crumbling from infighting and corruption, instead portray that through the character. It reads so much better, and ends up being more concise, and allows for opportunities for further character development all while building the world. I love more story, but I'd prefer reading a 700 page story. Not a 400 page story in 700 pages. Let's make all the pages matter.

It's hilarious when Jason decides to mess with people or his own family , it's a serious book as well and lots of action, he's just trying to be what he needs to be for his family and his world , while also trying to leave it a better place before he moves on the the other world he was dumped in , In his eyes he's only back on Earth to fix mistakes and leave his family better off than when he left them , oh and the world too lol . Read it from the first book to the next one in the series , you won't be disappointed, I wasn't, trust me these books are worth it .

Another absolutely amazing book in the series, it was scary how exactly on point the actions of various agencies and governments was in this book. It would all play out like this too, absolute chaos for short term gains that in the grand scheme of things mean nothing - almost felt like I was reading "Don't look up" but with gold and silver rankers. As much as I didn't like a certain character and his family, he came through and his private chat brought a tear to my eye. Great job as always, the characters are phenomenal, but like Jason - I'm really ready to be done with Earth, what a dumpster fire.
