De passie voor wijnen is Laurant Miquel met de paplepel ingegoten. De familie bezat al wijnstokken in de Languedoc onder het Ancien Regime. In 1791 namen ze het landgoed van Cazal Viel over. Al generatie op gerantie worden er wijnen gemaakt en daardoor is veel ervaring doorgegevens. De terroirs kent de familie inmiddels door en door. Het doel is om wijnen te maken die verassen en direct de wijnliefhebbers aanspreken na de eerste slok. En dat proeven we zeker in elke slok van deze wijn. De passie en toewijding is terug te vinden in de wijnen en dankzij het perfecte terroir en het harde werk van de familie zijn het bijzondere wijnen die zij op de markt brengen. De Albarino druiven zijn afkomstig van de wijngaard gelegen in de Zuid-Franse Languedoc. De term Pech komt van de oud historische naam voor kleine heuvel. Laurent Miquel heeft deze wijn de naam Pech gegeven omdat de wijngaard in een heuvelachtig gebied ligt op een hoogte van 238 meter. Ook de hoogte zien we terug in de benaming. De druiven worden in de nacht geoogst om ervoor te zorgen dat alle aroma’s behouden blijven. Tijdens het persen wordt een selectie van sappen gemaakt en het klaren van de most gebeurt op lage temperatuur. De veroudering vindt plaats op droesem in roestvrijstalen vaten. Het resultaat is een zeer elegante witte wijn. De geur is rijk met aroma’s van witte perzik en citrusvruchten. Is de smaak is hij fris en fruitig met een lange afdronk. Can I be a heretic in this world?
Format: Kindle
This world is fun.
This world is interesting.
This world would be fascinating to visit.
And that also holds true with the characters. Fischer is interesting even as a semi-broken former elite businessman who threw it all away just before getting hit by a truck and thrown into the world. The humble and not-so-humble villagers he meets are perfect foils for him. They never felt like they were nothing but tropes. Yes, Roger's wife is sick and he's grumpy and unwelcoming, but there were depths to it. We learn over time who he is as a husband, father and farmer. All of the other human characters have some backstory even if we don't see it on the pages. Its still clearly reflected in their decisions and actions.
And the animal friends of Fischer that slowly gain power and intelligence due to his actions are wonderful.
This is a story that was carefully and lovingly crafted and is definitely one of my favorites for the year to date.

Heretical Review
Format: Kindle
Wow, what a fun book!
I fell in love with the protagonist on the first page only to have to deal with one of the best plot twists of the genre. Well done.
Fischer is a genuinely nice guy. He cares about others, treats them with respect and does not expect that they conform to his world.
I love the dopey way he makes his way through life, seemingly unaware of what is going on around him, but trusting his friends to, well, be his friends.
We end with a few loose ends, but that happens in a serialization, right?
Lots of anime and pop-culture references for the reader to enjoy, along with some deep philosophical moments. Fischer is a deep well.
Enjoy the book! Looking forward to book two!

It is fantasy but unlike most fantasies. The mystery is what exactly makes this book so addictive.

I really enjoyed this book. It is fantasy but unlike most fantasies. So far no armies or mages but a fair amount of what looks like supeernational but accompanied by a voice that announces improvements in a computer like mode.
The main character is an Aussie. It's funny, clever and touching. It is not deep but it works.
In trying to avoid his previous life in another world, he keeps things light and tries to help thew locals who live in a culture and a political system he doesn't understand. His entire goal is to fish as much as possible in a place where everything related to the ocean is hearsay.
I just keep reading.
The mystery is what exactly makes this book so addictive. I've read the second and the third is waiting for me.

fun
Format: Kindle
Fischer was an international billionaire who walked away from it all and met truck-kun. Now he’s in a tropical paradise with a unpowered System, and living his best life as a fisherman. He befriends many people and begins awakening people and animals as cultivators without trying to. Some see him as a hurdle to be removed, but his new friends deal with it without bothering him. In the end Fischer has the friends he’s always wanted and a love interest.
This is a good swift, king, slice of life story. There’s loads of humor, great pacing, wonderful narrator, and an interesting world. It reminds me of “Beware of Chicken” in its wholesomeness and enjoyability. I’ve already gone to the next in the series! Please enjoy
