Na veel geleerd te hebben van eerdere albums (met Wouter Vlaeminck als producer), en de recente EP, schreven, componeerden, repeteerden, namen, produceerden en mixten ze alles zelf. Jean stelde zijn studio in Hasselt ter beschikking, van vrienden lieten ze te gekke spullen gebruiken, ze huurden een week een appartement in Hasselt en namen samen het derde album live op. Ze hebben alle instrumenten in 2 dagen opgenomen. Yoran, de live geluidstechnicus van de band, kwam langs om te helpen, samen met een handvol andere vrienden waarmee ze samenwerken. We kunnen zeggen dat al deze mensen die hen hielpen, hun familie werden. Een familie van mensen waarmee ze de afgelopen 10 jaar hebben samengewerkt. DE GURU GURU handelt sinds 2012 met veel plezier in diepe expressieve artrock, waarbij hij koortsachtig hoekige gitaren combineert met excentrieke polyritmes, allemaal aangevuld met grillige en losgeslagen zang. Terwijl invloeden worden ontleend aan Queens of the Stone Age, Radiohead, The Mars Volta, SOULWAX, The Jesus Lizard & Andy Kaufman, wordt het indie-math-psycho-noise rulebook uit elkaar gescheurd, wat resulteert in grillige nummers die op de een of andere manier lijken te uitgroeien tot kronkelende oorwormen. De band is niet in één genre te plaatsen.

Maybe it’s more prominent in darker colors but I have washed these now 3 different times even with scent beads and still hate the smell. I wish I could accurately describe what it smells like— it’s just not good and for some reason, body heat only exacerbates it and makes the smell even worse and I wake up feeling like a smell like the sheets… which isn’t a good thing. Besides that, I do really enjoy them. They feel great on your skin and I love the color. I wish the smell didn’t kill them so badly for me ☹️
