In 1984 werd het domein overgenomen door Domaines Barons de Rothschild (Lafite) dat toen 110 hectare groot was en maar liefst 68 hectare wijngaarden telden.Om het potentieel van Château Rieussec een duwtje in de rug te geven staat elk wijnjaar hier in het teken van een zorgvuldige druivenselectie een nauwgezette vinificatie en een strikt fermentatieproces op vaten.Het domein is al generaties lang een toonaangevende naam op het gebied van sauternes-wijnen. Een lichte gouden gloed. Een geurig en bijzonder verleidelijk bouquet van honing witte amandelnoten en perzik. Een charmant en evenwichtig smakenpalet. 90% sémillon 7% sauvignon en 3% muscadelle. Een bodem van klei en kalksteen. De gemiddelde leeftijd van de wijnstokken is 35 jaar. Heerlijk bij enkele plakjes in de pan gebakken foie gras met gegrilde verse vijgen sint-jakobsschelpen in roomsaus met sauternes of zwezeriken. De ultieme aperitiefwijn en de ideale bondgenoot van desserts zoals cake van pure chocoladeof gegrilde ananas met zachte specerijen.
