Castorolie wordt gewonnen uit de vrucht van de wonderboom (ook wel Ricinus Communis genoemd), die de bijnaam wonderboon draagt. Toch is de boon van de wonderboom eigenlijk geen peulvrucht (Leguminosae) en is de wonderboon derhalve geen “officiële boon”. De wonderboom dankt zijn naam aan de ongelooflijke snelheid waarmee deze plant groeit. Oorspronkelijk komt de castorplant uit Oost-Afrika, India en het Zuidoostelijke gebied van de Middellandse Zee. In de tijd van de slavenhandel is deze plant in het Caribisch gebied terechtgekomen. Hier groeit de wonderboom nu overal in de tropen.
Castor, ofwel wonderolie wordt al eeuwenlang gebruikt. Zo werd het onder andere al door de Egyptenaren gebruikt, zo’n 4000 jaar voor Christus. Dit weten we omdat het in verschillende tomben is gevonden. Maar ook de oude Grieken blijken de ricinusolie te kennen. Het kende vele toepassingen, waaronder medicinale, maar tegenwoordig gebruiken we de wonderolie voor voller, steviger haar en een egale huid. Het wordt puur gebruikt, of in combinatie met andere natuurlijke oliën.
Doordat castorolie (ricinusolie) een reinigende en tevens verzorgende werking heeft, wordt de wonderolie vaak gebruikt bij een droge huid. Ook maakt het de poriën vrij van bacteriën, waardoor de huid er gaaf uit ziet. Castor olie ondersteunt het herstellend vermogen van de huid. Doordat je moleculen een kleine massa hebben, kan de olie makkelijk tot de diepere huidlagen doordringen.
Castorolie bevat essentiële Omega 9 vetzuren. Hierdoor gaat broos of droog haar er weer gezond uitzien en glanzen.

Latex allergy stopped me from taking bromelain
I was excited to find a natural solution to inflammation and sinus issues. However, after taking this for less than a week, I had a nosebleed that wouldn't stop. After a deep dive on Google, I found out that if you are allergic to latex, you shouldn't take bromelain. Latex Cross-Reactivity: Bromelain is derived from pineapple. People with a latex allergy are at higher risk of an allergic reaction to bromelain. This allergy can manifest as sneezing, itchy throat, or inflammation in the sinuses, which can trigger nosebleeds. I was taking this to get rid of the inflammation in my sinuses, not add to it. I also had tingling in my fingers, which a deep dive on Google said could happen if I am sensitive to quercetin. Quercetin Side Effects: While generally safe, high-dose or sensitive use of quercetin can cause "tingling in the extremities" (numbness/tingling in hands/feet). Thus is neither a high dose of eother of these, nor was it used long-term, so I guess I am sensitive to them both. Beware if you are sensitive to medications and/or have a latex allergy. I can't say if these pills made a positive impact on me, because I only found negative effects, but that is due to my body being so quirky.
