Hierdoor zal het haar minder knopen, zal het zacht en glad aanvoelen en is hierdoor ook makkelijk te borstelen. Producenten die zonder de Remy-kwaliteit werken, gebruiken zeer sterke zuren om de haarschubben te vernietigen. Hierdoor gaat de natuurlijke kleur, glans en structuur van het haar verloren. Hoewel het haar nog glad aan zal voelen, zal het na enkele wasbeurten gaan pluizen en knopen.
