During the Rococo period, wealthy women tucked shells, necklaces, fruit, and flowers into their hair, which was styled into towers that reached as high as three feet over their heads. In 1970s London, young, disfranchised "punks" made themselves feel powerful by drawing on the 2,000-year-old Native American practice of shaving their heads except for a narrow strip from forehead to neck. These are just a couple of many fascinating moments of hair history whimsically illustrated in this book. Katja Spitzer's colorful illustrations are presented in double-page spreads that offer an engaging description of a hair trend or style and its cultural and historic significance. Readers will learn why hair braiders in West Africa can spend an entire day working on one client; and how Black Americans signaled their opposition to racist laws and practices by not styling their naturally frizzy hair. Filled with important history and giggle-inducing facts, this wide-ranging book crosses cultures and oceans to offer an important lesson about self- expression that will encourage readers of all ages to let down their hair, and to let others do the same.

Great socks / a bit expensive
Size: Large, Color: Black
These may be the Goldilocks of the socks I've tried. They have nearly the same quality as the MUCH pricier Darn Tough Vertex Ultralight Cushion Cool Max socks (also reviewed). They have better quality, and a higher price, than a similar pair of PUMA socks (also reviewed). Pros: Very well made, with no loose stitching, comfortable forefoot and heel cushioning, good ventilation via top mesh, good arch compression, minimal logos and mostly solid color. Cons: Price is a bit on the high side, but better than the Darn Tough socks. I could honestly have made a good case for any of these three (ASICS, PUMA, or Darn Tough), which explains their collective high ratings. I did the top 3 reviews first. When I get a chance, I'll go back and review the average and terrible :) If money is no object, get the Darn Tough Vertex. If you're price sensitive, and willing to compromise a bit on quality, go with the PUMAs, which is what I did. Otherwise, these ASICS are near the same quality as the Darn Tough, but less expensive. Tough decisions :)

They fit perfectly
Size: X-Large, Color: Black
My favorite socks, the fit is great, they are comfortable and they are long enough so it covers my ankles, therefore, they don't rub against my inner shoe.

Great buy.
Size: Medium, Color: Black
These socks have a cool fresh feel to them. I bought new running shoes, Hoka Bondi 9, and they feel great paired up with them. Similar socks in the store were $49. I tried several others brands like Sauchony and 2 other lesser known brands but there was something indescribably different. I purchased another pack immediately.

Comfort
Size: Medium, Color: Black
I have been wearing ASICS socks since forever! As a distance runner, I have worn many others from different companies, and I always come back! Also, i am not a fan of the invisible kind, and ASCIS seems to be the only ones to make the socks that are above the shoe, are durable, comfortable, I have no desire to look elsewhere. Thanks ASICS!
