The Naniwa Chosera stones are part of Naniwa’s premium Japanese Domestic Market (JDM) lineup and are widely regarded as some of the finest ceramic sharpening stones available. Designed for professionals and serious enthusiasts, Chosera stones deliver exceptional speed, precise feedback, and consistent results, even under heavy daily use.

The Chosera line shares the same abrasive formulation and performance characteristics as the Naniwa Professional (PRO) series, but with a thicker stone format and the inclusion of a Nagura stone, offering superior value and longevity. This is why Chosera stones continue to be reserved for the Japanese domestic market.

Each stone is supplied with a Nagura stone (67 × 49 × 25 mm), used to generate a fine sharpening slurry that enhances cutting efficiency and feedback during use.

Chosera stones are classified as splash-and-go, requiring only a quick surface wetting before sharpening. Many experienced users find that a short soak of a few minutes can further improve smoothness and overall performance.

Grit Breakdown

  • 1000 Grit – Medium stone and the cornerstone of regular sharpening; ideal for restoring a sharp, usable edge

  • 3000 Grit – Medium-fine stone for refining the edge, improving smoothness and edge stability on most kitchen knives
