What a wonderful gift – keepsake.  This 1987 U.S. Proof Set includes a cent, nickel, dime, quarter and half dollar in original mint packaging.  Coin proof sets are a cornerstone for any numismatic collection.   According to the U.S. Mint, to create the coin’s sharp relief and a mirror-like background, the “proof” minting process requires manually feeding burnished coin blanks into presses where each coin is struck multiple times to create the softly frosted and highly detailed images. The coins are then packaged in a protective hard plastic to showcase and maintain their exceptional finish.  These precious proof sets are a great purchase for yourself or as gifts to those who love history and collecting coins.

This coin set originally belonged to a coin collector who stored it in our safe for years. Eventually we acquired his collection in the condition he left it and other than sealing it in plastic it is sold as he left it - The plastic containers have never been opened.
