These South Dakota Goldback foil notes contain 1/200 oz .999 fine Gold which is the first local, voluntary currency to be made of a spendable, beautiful piece of artwork that contains physical Gold.
The Goldback project truly began in spirit with the passage of the Utah Legal Tender Act in 2011 which recognized certain types of Gold as currency within the state. Since that time the technology to mint Gold into a spendable form for small transactions has become a reality.
Currency Highlights:
- Contains 1/200 oz of .999 fine Gold.
- Individual notes come protected in protective currency sleeves. Multiple notes will be in 1 protective sleeve.
- Obverse: On the obverse, the virtue of Industria (Industry) is personified as a young woman joyfully strolling in the fields of a farm, with grain silos in the background, the foremost of which is boldly adorned with an American flag. While carrying a basket of corn, Industria is surrounded by a bountiful harvest which includes corn, honey, hay, wheat, sunflowers, and a large pumpkin draped with a banner carrying the name "INDUSTRIA." The image is a tribute to the reputation of South Dakota as one of the top producers of corn, soybeans and wheat in the United States. The caption to the enchanting scene is elegantly scripted below as "ABOUND IN GOOD WORKS." Inscriptions include "2023," "5 SOUTH DAKOTA GOLDBACK" and "1/200 TROY OUNCE 24K GOLD." The note is also printed with the statement "SPECIE LEGAL TENDER INSTRUMENT," which confirms that it is authorized for voluntary mercantile use exclusively in South Dakota

Cute for office organizing

This is such a cute organizer tray. I got it for my home office. It matched a different set I purchased, but completes my home office look.
