Discover the profound insights within the pages of this thought-provoking book that reframes happiness for the modern age. In this brand new release, renowned author Carl Cederström expertly traces the evolving concept of happiness, from its origins in early 20th-century European psychiatry to its current portrayal in popular culture, influenced by icons like the Beat Generation and political figures such as Ronald Reagan and Donald Trump. This compelling narrative highlights how the pursuit of authenticity, pleasure, and individuality has been commodified by corporations, shaping our lives in ways that often lead to unfulfillment and insecurity. As societal tensions rise and our understanding of happiness shifts, Cederström invites us to embrace a transformative vision of well-being that champions community engagement and a more egalitarian approach to life. With 200 pages of captivating content published by John Wiley & Sons (UK) in 2018, this book is essential for those seeking a deeper understanding of personal happiness in a challenging world. Description:
In this devastatingly witty new book, Carl Cederström traces our present-day conception of happiness from its roots in early-twentieth-century European psychiatry, to the Beat generation, to Ronald Reagan and Donald Trump. He argues that happiness is now defined by a desire to be "authentic", to experience physical pleasure, and to cultivate a quirky individuality. But over the last fifty years, these once-revolutionary ideas have been co-opted by corporations and advertisers, pushing us to live lives that are increasingly unfulfilling, insecure and narcissistic. In an age of increasing austerity and social division, Cederström argues that a radical new dream of happiness is gathering pace. There is a vision of the good life which promotes deeper engagement with the world and our place within it, over the individualism and hedonism of previous generations. Guided by this more egalitarian worldview, we can reinvent ourselves and our societies.

Such a nice suit!
Size: 14, Color: Beige
I was pleased upon getting this suit for my son. I really like the color, which is kind of like an oatmeal color. Nice and light color. The material is light and thinner, but very comfortable. It fit my son really well. It’s not lined or the best quality suit, but because it is a linen suit, it works out and look really good. I would recommend this one, especially for more of the summer/spring time.

Bought this for my son to attend a wedding on the beach. It looks very good, the color is beautiful and is true to size. He is 14 so I got size 14. He is 5’7” and weighs about 110 lbs. the pants length was perfect too. Just needs a little ironing.
