First introduced in 2011, the SPD-SX has been trusted by professional drummers for its triggering and sampling capabilities. This latest entry has been carefully engineered to be the ultimate sampling pad – offering extensive I/O, upgraded pads, large color display with multi-color trigger lights, and 32 GB of memory, to name a few upgrades.
The SPD-SX Pro's 9 durable pads offer Roland's signature expressive response for a natural stick feel. The sensor on the top 3 shoulder pads have been re-worked for increased sensitivity to deliver more even-sounding hits. Just below the pads, you'll find the new and improved color LCD screen. This large 4.3-inch screen is backlight and shows essential real-time information like A/B sample layers, WAV sample names, sample playback progress, and more.
Under the hood, 32 GB of storage is at disposal to hold your music catalog. Although, there are already 1550 onboard samples and 200 kits ready to use from the first boot up. There are 157 empty user kits and 43 rewritable preset kits. The unit holds 44 hours' worth of audio at 48 kHZ/16-bit and automatically converts WAV, AIFF, and MP3 files to play seamlessly. A newly added time-stretching algorithm allows for seamless tempo synchs. Create custom sounds with A/B layering and add a plethora of effects to them ranging from modulation, distortion, and filter effects. Side chain compression is also available, ensuring the kick drum never gets lost in the mix. A 16-step sequencer and built in metronome helps keep things on the rails, making larger productions flow more easily.
