A ceramic table lamp assembled from an abstract geometric lamp base created in Italy by master potter Alvino Bagni. Made of hand-turned chamotte earthenware, it has been glazed in matt black with a glossy geometric wax resist décor on top, consisting of quartered circular elements and diamond shapes in shades of blue, purple, green, and yellow.

ALVINO BAGNI (1919–2009) was born in 1919 in the quiet hamlet of Lastra a Signa in the environs of Florence in Tuscany. His boyhood and adolescence were spent without his father, who, as a communist, had been exiled under Italian fascism. Young Bagni took an early interest in pottery, a regionally important industry. He studied the basics of drawing and clay modeling under the tutelage of sculptor Torello Santini (1875–1946) and took a job in the workshop of Arnaldo Pugi’s ceramics factory in nearby Ponte a Signa. Bagni had a stint at Bitossi Ceramiche for a few years in nearby Montelupo Fiorentino, where famed ceramist Aldo Londi (1911–2003) took him under his wing. In 1956, Pugi helped Bagni finance the opening of his own studio in Lastra a Signa, BAGNI CERAMICHE, where several family members were employed, including wife Gina. She would continue to work alongside Bagni throughout his career. An order for 3,500 elephant-head plates bearing the slogan “I like Ike,” manufactured for export during the 1952 US presidential race, got things rolling for the studio. It proved to be a prophetic commission: a large majority of Bagni’s work would be for the US market.

In the 1950s and '60s, Bagni established fundamental collaborations with Bitossi Ceramiche and import companies Rosenthal Netter and Raymor, the latter being a dominant American firm. These relationships allowed Bagni to open a larger, better-equipped factory where he surrounded himself with highly skilled artists—Enzo Borgini, M. Mannori, Remo Buti, and Michelangelo Santonocito, among them. Bagni produced a stunning variety of designs for Raymor, including some highly individualistic studio pieces, perhaps representing the best of his work—featuring stripes, geometric patterns, and bold lava-type glazes. He was always experimenting and produced some truly radical glaze combinations and color schemes. A case in point is the Sea Garden décor, an unusual mix of turquoise, blue, green, yellow, browns, and blacks. Bagni often incorporated rings or other small metal pieces with his ceramic designs.

By 1980, BAGNI CERAMICHE had almost 100 employees and was internationally renowned for high-quality, artistic production and innovative techniques. However, as the world increasingly opened up to global competition, the company found itself in financial straits. Tied as it was to an "artisanal" approach, it struggled to withstand the downward pressure on prices. Despite Bagni's noble efforts to save his factory and employees, BAGNI CERAMICHE closed for good in 1990.

Bagni returned to pottery with Nuove Forme, a venture founded with son-in-law Gianfranco Ghiretti in Florence in 1993. A natural evolution of his older company, Nuove Forme continued to research and experiment with colors and processes. It found its niche producing limited runs of virtually unique objects for the most discerning buyers. Nuove Forme owns many of Bagni's historical designs and curates an enormous Bagni showroom—something of a museum of his work. Bagni retired for health reasons in 2001. He died in 2009 at age 90.

Looked Great with my shoes and dress
Color: Champagne, Color: Champagne
This is a true champagne color, as you can see in the picture my shoes were a slight rose champagne color. It still all went really great together. The bag is very soft, perfect size for the wedding, opened and closed securely, and looked high quality.

Elegant and affordable
Color: Black
I got this for a formal event and it was perfect. There were several colors to choose from, and it comes with a long chain option for over the shoulder if preferred. The quality is very good and the price was also fantastic. It fits a phone easily with room for a few more necessities. It feels very comfortable and durable. I'll be using it again for future events.

Perfect Navy Clutch!
Color: Navy
The Navy Blue clutch is really nice with a goldtone clasp and a really nice goldtone twisted rope chain that's detachable. The chain alone makes the purchase worth it to interchange onto other clutches that came with cheesy silver tone cheap-looking chains. It's roomy enough to hold your bulky cell phone, a small brush and some makeup plus a zip pocket for money (what's that?), ID, and credit cards. One of the best purchases I've ever made. Attractive and classy clutch!

Lovable clutch
Color: Navy, Color: Navy
Cute clutch for events. Took to a wedding, nice size, especially like that I could put my phone in it and plenty of room for a small wallet, lipsticks, and tissues/personal products. I wish the fabric were higher quality (has a sheen to it yet it is thin) but for the price it makes sense. I will only use for special occasions. Once aired out overnight, it had no smell. Very light in weight. It has a strap that would make it more comfortable to lug around, but I think I lost it? That is on me! I appreciate that it has a strap and a place for it to convert. Overall super happy and does the job! Carries everything I need for formal events. Photos show one with my hand and one with a lipstick in it for size reference. Other shows a thoughtfully placed zipper pocket that is convenient!

Beautiful and trendy especially with minor adjustments!
Color: Red, Color: Red
The satin fabric of the bag is of great quality. Thick and resistant to snags. I partied all night with it and it held up beautifully. The color saturation of the red was perfect and against my dark dress was a perfect pop of dramatic color contrast. Notes: The magnetic closure is strong but doesn't form a complete closure because there are only two magnets. Don't turn the bag upside down or small items can fall out. There was a strong chemically smell that dissipated after a week of airing out and adding a few drops of perfume to a tissue that I kept inside the bag. I wanted a "dumpling" clutch so I altered it slightly. First I colored over the gold closure with nail polish to match the fabric color. There is something about the gold tone that detracted from the elegance. Then I added a stitch to the bottom and top corners to round the shape a bit. See pics I can hardly sew on buttons so if I could do it, anyone can! The fabric is well lined and has just enough structure to it to hold the dumpling effect without becoming too slouchy looking. The chain is nice with more elegant looking clasps than other similarly priced bags, but I didn’t use it because I wanted a clutch. Under my arm or in my hand as a clutch this was light and comfortable. Got lots of compliments and questions about where I got it. Overall a fantastic buy.
