Stil De Grain RF Pigment StickWe have long used Stil de Grain in some of our mixes and are now introducing it on its own. It is to Raw Sienna what our Brown Pink is to Burnt Sienna like a Sienna on steroids. Raw Sienna is a natural earth, so both its top and undertones are muted. Stil de Grain, being a synthetic iron oxide, has a clean top tone, and its undertone is golden yellow. The French name is a revival of the long obsolete impermanent colour made from buckthorn berries. R&F

R&F Pigment Sticks are a unique version of an oil stick that will transform the way you paint. They are richly pigmented with a lipstick soft consistency that gives them the same fluidity, subtlety and durability of traditional oil colours. They have just enough natural wax added to maintain a solid stick form. Pigment Sticks let you get rid of brushes, palettes, paint tubes or solvents, allowing you to work more directly on your surface. Their immediacy and mark making ability afford an endless range of options.
Used as oil paint you can work any surface just as you would oils or use them in combination with tube oils. Use brushes, solvents and rags once the paint is on the surface. Some artists use them to start a painting with a quick sketch. Used as a drawing tool, Pigment Sticks are becoming more prevalent as stand-alone painting and drawing tools. They are a wonderful bridge between drawing and painting and by their very nature cause artists to loosen up, use more colour and be spontaneous and gestural.
