Block Assembly Instructions

AQ Cutting Mat Required: GO! Cutting Mat, 10 in. x 24 in. (25.4 cm x 61 cm)

How to Die Cut 4-Color New York Beauty Block:

For best cutting results, position fabric on the lengthwise grain (straight of grain) as it goes under the roller. Tip: The die is specially designed to cut one complete 4-color, 9" finished block in one pass through the cutter.

  • Fabric Color 1: Cut a 10" square. Place over shape A and B. Cut 1 each.
  • Fabric Color 2: Cut a 5 1/2" square. Place over shape D. Cut 1.
  • Fabric Color 3: Cut a 2 1/2" x Width of Fabric (WOF) strip. Fanfold into 41/8" lengths over shape G. Cut 5.
  • Fabric Color 4:
    • Cut a 10" square. Place over shape C, E and F.
    • Cut a 3 1/2" x 3 3/4" rectangle and place right side down on shape E.
    • Cut three 4" x 3 3/4" rectangles and place over shape F.
    • Cut 1 shape C, 1 mirrored set of shape E and 4 shape F.

Why Quilters Love the GO! New York Beauty Die:

  • The GO! New York Beauty die makes creating this classic curved-seam block fast, accurate and stress-free. The die cuts all pieces in one pass and works seamlessly with most GO! fabric cutters for stunning, precise results every time.
  • New York Beauty is a Block on Board® (BOB®) die which means it’s specially designed to cut a 4-color, 9" block in one pass through the cutter.
  • New York Beauty includes 7 shapes that are difficult to cut by hand.
  • New York Beauty features specialized dog-ears, ¼" seam allowances and notches on curves for easy alignment and piecing.
  • New York Beauty includes screen printed letters on die for easier piecing and organization of shapes.
  • Free pattern downloads and step-by-step block assembly instructions are available to get you started.
  • Fat Quarter-friendly
  • Do you EQ? If you have Electric Quilt® software, you can use it to create your own New York Beauty designs from their block library and cut your fabric.

AccuQuilt Benefits:

  • Cut so much more fabric in less time.
  • Get accurate cuts every time -- No slipping rulers or mistakes
  • Easiest to use -- Simply place die on cutter, then fabric and cutting mat on top
  • Save fabric with Two Tone Foam -- Get more out of your fabric by placing it only over the shape you want to cut.
  • Safe to use -- No blades come anywhere near your fingers

Die Tips:

  • With some fabrics, after cutting, a thread or two will remain where die blades meet. Snip threads with scissors.
  • Blades on some dies are positioned at an angle.  Align fabric to edge of shape, not edge of die board.
  • Use good quality fabric to reduce fabric stretch.
  • It's always a good idea to test cut one shape before cutting many shapes to ensure fabric orientation is correct.

Great book!
Format: Paperback
This book is a great complement to my book "The Secret To Getting A Job After College". While I cover the details about resumes and cover letters, this book does a very effective job addressing issues related to determining what you should think about doing after college and the author also has a valuable section on how to prepare your elevator speech. I recommend it for everyone who is in college or has graduated in the past few years and I now consider it required reading for many of my students.

Career Coach Recommended!
Format: Paperback
As a Career Coach, I find this book to be a great resource for college students and recent grads who are interested in preparing for a rewarding career after graduation. Lindsey Pollack is both knowledgeable and encouraging, and presents multiple strategies for students to be career-ready in today's competitive job market. A few topics include interview preparation, networking, service events, and blogging. A great read for the millennial student or job seeker, regardless of whether they have identified their career path or not.

This is by far the most helpful book I have actually enjoyed reading for school
Format: Paperback
I had to purchase this book for my pre-professional seminar class. This is by far the most helpful book I have actually enjoyed reading for school. This book covers a wide range of topics and is very specific on the steps take to to reach your career goals. As a student who is undeclared I found this book very valuable. I also like the style of writing, the author talks to you like a friend.

Now what I was looking for
Format: Paperback
I was looking more for advice on getting from a major with no clear career applications(ie. not doctor, lawyer or teacher) to a career that I would be able to live with and perhaps enjoy. This guide helps you more if you have a pretty clear idea what you want to do and are ready to make a full time job of finding your career, especially if you are not willing to settle for "paying the bills" or "get out of the parents' house". For those of you lucky enough to have not picked a major yet, just remember that picking a major needs to corrolate to getting a job, not just "learning stuff". For everyone else, if you have a dream, seems like this book will help you get there. If you don't yet have a dream, I would strongly suggest tackling that area first. This book mainly just suggests getting a career profile(which is more of other people telling you what you should do, instead of you finding out what you want to do). There's a lot of really helpful and very current information in here. You have to be ready to jump on it though.

Outstanding! An absolute must for college students
Format: Paperback
I picked this book up hoping it would prepare me for the job market, which I was already pretty confident about. It was incredibly eye opening, and enlightened me about dozens of things I was overlooking--like using Facebook as my "professional friend" and getting a linkedin account. It was a little stressful seeing how much I could do, but I've been working through the tips one at a time and its really built momentum in my professional brand even as an undergraduate. Now, I have something to do to build my career everyday.
