The Martin D-28 is one of the all time greatest acoustic guitars. Having had decades worth of popular music written and performed on this model guitar, the D-28 comes with a heritage and a need to inspire the next great song to be written. This interpretation of the D-28 comes from the Martin Custom Shop, commissioned exclusively by Russo Music.
This D-28 features an Adirondack Spruce top, which is known to feature a warm and punchy tone - giving strummers and fingerstyle players alike a guitar that suits their performance. For the back and sides we have Cocobolo - a tropical Central American hardwood. Cocobolo is known for elaborate grain and style, and can often be seen in elaborate woodworking. The wood is also featured as this D-28’s peghead laminate.
This Custom Shop D-28 has a pleasant, percussive character - with an additional punch from the Adirondack Spruce top. Notes fall out of this guitar with ease, and dynamics are properly accentuated. Helping make this guitar look as good as it sounds is a beautiful Herringbone over Maple binding. It is an incredible tool for songwriting and performance and a stellar a lifetime investment.
