Discover the compelling insights of 'Revenge of the Rich,' authored by Austin Mitchell, a notable figure who served as a Labour MP for Grimsby. This paperback edition, measuring 210 x 270 mm and containing 116 pages, delves into the failures of neoliberal economic policies that have dominated the political landscape for over thirty years. Mitchell's engaging narrative critiques the so-called 'trickle-down' effect that has led to increased wealth inequality, benefitting only the affluent while eroding the foundations of a nurturing welfare state. Through relatable examples of Thatcherism in the UK and Rogernomics in New Zealand, he reveals how these ideologies have resulted in a 'long march down Dead-End Street.' With its thought-provoking analysis, this book is a must-read for those interested in learning about the consequences of market-driven governance and austerity measures that prioritize efficiency over the well-being of the people. Be inspired to envision a fairer society from the lessons taught within these pages. Whether you're a student of political science, an advocate for social justice, or simply a curious reader, 'Revenge of the Rich' is an essential addition to your library. Enjoy fast shipping as this book is in stock in New Zealand, ensuring no unexpected import charges, custom duties, or taxes. We are happy to combine shipping for your convenience.

In his down-to-earth and lively style, Mitchell, who experienced politics first-hand as a long-serving Labour MP for Grimsby, denounces the economic policy of the last three decades as “a long march down Dead-End Street” – a neoliberal experiment that has benefitted the rich and eroded the “good society” with its welfare state and governments’ commitment to the betterment of the people. He charts the development of a neoliberal creed, market-driven and with governments devoted instead to efficiency, cost-cutting and austerity at the people’s expense, and draws parallels between Thatcherism in the United Kingdom, Rogernomics in New Zealand, and all that came after them. Mitchell observes how neoliberalism has failed to deliver on its promises, including that of the “trickle-down” effect, resulting in much greater inequality in both countries. Ultimately, he finds useful lessons in its failure and possible pointers to a fairer society for all.

opens bottles!
Size: One Size, Style: Bottle Opener
This bottle opener is very cool. It’s like a screwdriver, but it’s really a bottle opener! It has a grip to prevent your hand from flying off while opening a bottle. I also carry a bottle opener on my keychain and am always especially proud when someone needs a bottle opener and I have on right there on my keychain.

Great bottle opener and looks cool too
Size: One Size, Style: Bottle Opener
Love this opener. Matches with all the other screwdrivers in my tool box and have it ready to whip open a beer whenever needed. Slips into the pocket to carry with you as well. Solid tool and I gave a couple buddies one as a gift. These will see many years of beer opening super fast.

Funny yet good bottle opener
Size: One Size, Style: Bottle Opener
Nice rubber grip. It would be better if the metal part was one inch longer, but still very functional.
