Soms ontstaat een wijn niet uit een strak marketingplan, maar simpelweg omdat de natuur een handje helpt. Dat is precies het verhaal achter de Relats van Recaredo. Na enkele kleine oogstjaren beschikte Ton Mata in 2018 eindelijk weer over voldoende druiven van topkwaliteit uit de eigen wijngaarden in de Penedès. Het resultaat? De terugkeer van Relats: een pure, karaktervolle Corpinnat die bewijst dat grote mousserende wijn niet ingewikkeld of onbetaalbaar hoeft te zijn.

Deze Brut Nature wordt gemaakt van de klassieke Penedès-druiven Xarel·lo, Macabeo en Parellada, aangevuld met een kleine hoeveelheid Monastrell. Na 20 maanden rijping op de gisten (sur latte) wordt de wijn zonder dosage gebotteld. Daardoor blijft alles wat je proeft afkomstig van de druiven, de bodem en de rijping.

In het glas laat Relats direct zien waar Recaredo zo goed in is. Een fijne, zachte mousse draagt aroma’s van venkel, mediterrane kruiden en een subtiele zilte toets. De stijl is licht en elegant, met veel frisheid en een zuivere, lange afdronk. Een wijn die moeiteloos de rol van aperitief vervult, maar zich ook verrassend goed thuis voelt aan tafel.

Achter deze fles schuilt bovendien een bijzonder wijnhuis. Recaredo behoort tot de grondleggers van de Corpinnat-beweging en staat bekend om zijn compromisloze kwaliteitsfilosofie. Alle vijftig hectare wijngaarden worden biodynamisch bewerkt en vrijwel alles gebeurt met de hand. Van het werken in de wijngaard tot het traditionele remuage en het handmatig dégorgeren van iedere fles, zonder de hals te bevriezen. Arbeidsintensiever wordt het nauwelijks.

Relats is misschien een van de toegankelijkste wijnen van Recaredo, maar draagt dezelfde ziel en overtuiging als de prestigecuvées van het huis. Een authentieke mousserende wijn uit de Penedès, gemaakt met respect voor traditie, terroir en tijd. En misschien wel het mooiste van alles: een fles die ver boven zijn prijsklasse presteert

So, excitedly I jumped in bed, laid my head down on the pillow and immediately thought, "oh no, these are too soft. This will not work." I just knew I would wake up to a sore neck. Cautiously, I laid down and waited to drift off, dreading waking up the next morning with a stiffer. (LOL) To my surprise I actually slept all night too. I usually would wake up like a thousand times fighting with repositioning the pillow to find my comfort zone. WOW, not that night. I slept like a baby and wait for it.....I woke up the next morning with NO PAIN! Hallelujah! I couldn't believe it. I was literally pain free in my neck and did not have a headache from the strain on my neck, shoulders and back. Man, is this really happening, I asked myself. This just can't be real. Wake, wake girl. You are dreaming. But nope. I was fully awake and with a pain free neck and shoulders. I jumped up and started getting ready for my day. I finally found the pillow that I wish I had found years ago. Could have saved so much $ from going down the drain. I am SO thankful to all the reviews that I read that shared their positive experience and encouraged me to purchase for myself. I am SOOOO GLAD I took a chance and brought these little beauties.
